Changeling (2008)

Misdirection in casting. A script that lacks focus. Somewhat not-so-strong direction. And unspectacular performances. IMHO, one of Clint Eastwood's weaker films. Pity, considering the historical context that this film based itself on comes across as being filled with lots of dramatic potential.

Elegy (2008)

Slow movie that packs a nice emotional punch towards the end. Ben Kingsley delivers a fine performance.

Doubt (2008)

A talkie-kinda film, not too different in nature from a play. Doubt is basically a character in the film. Strong performances all around.

The Reader (2008)

Very powerful human drama. At first, it looked like some artsy fartsy film that's not to my taste. Then everything starts to fall into place. Kate Winslet gives a commanding performance.

One of my fav lines from the films paraphrased: "Societies think they operate by morality but they don't. They operate by legality."

Australia (2008)

A bit too many 'endings'. Did not care enough for the characters on the whole. And the ones whom I liked got off the film early. Still, an okay film, though not essential viewing.

Rachel Getting Married (2008)

I really like this. Granted, I was unsure at the beginning by the shaky camera work style employed, and the seemingly mundane and ordinary. Yet, I got drawn in by some very powerful performances as the film progressed.

Milk (2008)

nice.
