Dream Stall《梦想小店》(2026)

Not too bad. 

I didn't care too much about some of the casting and the plot was basically formulaic and shallow, and the romance angle felt blah. But I thought the lead actress was watchable enough, much of the dialogue felt more colloquial than many local flicks, and I thought the music inserts ain't too bad. Mark Lee was a good supporting cast, and the Jack Neo bit was a hoot.

The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025)

I wasn't as engaged as I thought I would be, and I wondered if it was because I found the narrative in terms of the dramatic recreation a bit lacking in terms of the complexities that surround this tragic event. 

Also, have those of us who are insulated from these circumstances become so numb to such events that we now find it hard to care more? 

Colony (2026)

Not bad. One of the more entertaining thrillers I've watched this year.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026)

Very sugar. But not bad.
 

Balls Up (2026)

Kind of tired when I watched this and dozed off a bit. The lead characters don't really engage me, and the plot feels like it's drifting aimlessly quite a bit. Several jokes sound like they read better than they were executed. Loved the reference to Cocaine Bear. And Sacha Baon Cohen's performance is one of the better things about this.

Apex (2026)

Story's kind of basic. I'm more curious about how the action sequences were pieced together. 

Amoeba (2025)

I have mixed thoughts about this. Maybe there were themes I zeroed in on that didn't feel developed enough for me. Or maybe some bits felt unrealistic. But these didn't keep me from enjoying the film. Or feeling intrigued and curious about some of the production processes. I loved it when one of the characters said she once found a fossil of a merlion. Haha!
 

Anaconda (2025)

I didn't like this. Struggled to stay awake. The trailer I saw prior was so much better. Yawn.

Roofman (2025)

Loved it. :) 

Troll 2 (2025)

Blah. 

I didn't really enjoy this. I appreciated the links to the first film. But most of the parts that tried to be emo just fell flat for me.

Nice!

So this is what BDSM is. 

The ending didn't quite gel nicely for me immediately after watching, but I keep thinking back to many of the sweet human moments. And also some sensual ones too.

Very sensitive performance from Harry Melling.

Sentimental Value (2025)

The starting gave me feels of that Zemeckis film, Here.

That said, I could not really connect with the characters or the story as much as I had hoped to. 
 

Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans (2019)

This was so much fun! Especially with all the comic book references that tickled me silly. 

Gentleman Ghost? Wow! Starfire Fish? Hahaha. Tiny Titans? Gosh!

A House of Dynamite (2025)

Not bad.
 

3 Good Guys《老婆，我爱你！》(2026)

It's got decent production values. The storytelling was my least favorite part, and the other elements like performances, etc did little to boost my liking for the film. A pity, considering that I thought Geylang was a decent effort, and Maiyiduo really made me laugh in Follow Aunty La.

Thr Old Man and His Car《老破车》(2025)

Not too bad. What I liked - (1) the familiarity of the locations which makes this quite the Singapore film. (2) The cinematography. (3) The second half with the interaction between the old man and one of his neighbours. (4) Lim Kay Tong's performance really anchors the film. 

But... I thought it odd that the old man's friend and him feel off due to their character and language differences. I also thought the direction could have been more confident. Some narrative choices feel a bit questionable. One of the minor supporting talents' performance was also weaker and slightly diminished the few scenes that she appears in, 

Overall, an okay first feature. But definitely belongs in the category of art film (the still can follow type, just deviating from the usual commercial dramatics).

Invisible Nation《看不见的国家》(2023)

Generally, I liked it. This doc does lean more towards Taiwan's struggle to be acknowledged as a country internationally. 

Haq (2025)

Not too bad. 

Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) - IMAX 3D HFR

Technically not bad, but I found the story too generic for my personal tastes. 

Plus, I watched this in a hall with several inconsiderate audience members, who talked, and talked, or brought along young children who were clearly bored and not shy of letting their parents know loudly.

Left-Handed Girl《左撇子女孩》(2025)

Had some expectations due to the film's critical acclaim and the talents behind the film. However, I did not really engage with the story or the child's performance in general. I did perk up every time the meerkat appears.
