Swan Song (2021)

What I'll call a low budget slow mover. Udo Kier's performance greatly grounds the film. Nice to have such sensitive films featuring gay characters in their older years.

Encanto (2021)

I'm not 100% sold, but it has its charms.

Till We Meet Again《月老》(2021)

I generally like this even tho there's much I didn't go for - in particular, the logic of the story world and the depiction of the female characters which I felt were kind of standard social expectations of the female species.

That aside, this film does seem to know who its audience is. In the right moments, Kai Ko is cute, Gingle Wang is pretty when she's not hyping up the bad girl image and Vivian Sung is the standard pretty good girl.

IMHO, this film clicks when it comes to pulling the heart strings for the most parts.

Don't Look Up (2021)

I actually quite enjoy this. Mark Rylance is really good. There are also some moments that resonated with me, such as the dependence on data to forecast, and what motivates those in positions of authority, power and privilege.

The Matrix Resurrections (2021) - IMAX

A bit too talky for my liking. Didn't really take to the story or any of the characters either.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - IMAX

Not too bad. There were moments I teared up. There were moments that I felt were a bit draggy. Two bits I just could not buy - as they veered into the same territory as when Clark Kent will not save his father from death in order to hide his identity in Zack Snyder's The Man of Steel (2013). But the pluses mostly outweighed the few negatives. And the epic-ness that this film delivers is something fans haven't really seen before on the big screen.

The French Dispatch (2021)

A visual treat. I think I dozed off somewhere during the second story,  and woke up during the animated car chase scene bit in the third. I liked the story with Benicio del Toro, Lea Seydoux and Adrien Brody.
