Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013)

My first popcorn movie of 2013. Not something I was looking forward to. I'll say the film probably achieved most of what it set out to do. IMHO, it had some cool ideas, Famke Janssen looks good when she isn't in ugly witch mode, though I wished younger and hotter actors with better chemistry were cast as the two leads instead.

The Impossible (2012)

Dramatically, this film is not perfect. Regardless, the emotional grip that it commands is hard to ignore.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)

Really liked this. Not an easy film to sit through. Well directed, well edited work that's one of the best adult films I've seen in the last 12 months.

Cloud Atlas (2012)

Not too bad. In fact, I liked that this film took a chance. I'm fascinated by how well edited the film is, IMHO.

Amour (2012)

Packs quite a punch, even if this is not going to be for everyone.
