Dead Man Down (2013)

Arresting performances from Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace with assured direction from Niels Arden Oplev lifts what is otherwise a generic drama thriller. Love 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' by Kendra Morris, which is featured in the trailer of the movie!

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? - 明天記得愛上我 (2013)

IMHO, a lighthearted comic romance that a mature audience will get more out of due to the film's focus on adult relationships in modern society. Strong script with steady direction and performances. Enjoyed it muchly!

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

Really enjoyed this one! Also my first Fast & Furious movie!

What's to like? Good looking leads. Bad ass villains who ain't dumb and actually formidable. Focus on characters. And superb action sequences in the last bit including an amazing save.

What didn't click with me? Surprisingly - the earlier action chase bits were starting to get a bit dull at some points. But this is a really, really minor complain.

Populaire (2012)

Not too bad. Beautiful cinematography, art direction, costume design, score and performances lift this small, charming film.

Plot's predictable but that seems more of a "going-with-a-typical-genre" thing than a failure. Pacing is a bit slow at bits but I like some of the subtle humor. The competition scenes ain't too bad either. Deborah Francois gives a performance that makes you want to root for.

War of the Arrows - 최종병기 활 (2011)

Think this would have been fabulous in a theatre instead of on video. One of the best arrow combat flicks I've caught. Liked that the damsel in distress wasn't all passive and helpless. As with most good movies, the bad guy is really formidable.

Mama (2013)

Decent piece of horror, though I didn't quite go for the ending. Think I would have enjoyed this in a theatre more than watching it on video.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

My first Star Trek movie. Not too bad. Found the tone a little too naive for my liking but the action is top notch. Characters are generally well defined and likeable for me (Kirk being one of the exceptions). Favorites include Simon Pegg as Scotty and Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov. IMHO, Zachary Quinto is really good as Spock and I like Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison as well.

Got me thinking that this might be a big screen version of DC Comic's Science Police from the Legion of Super-Heroes, sorta. :)

Trance (2013)

IMHO, a nice plot driven thriller for adults with an uplifting ending. Rosario Dawson and James McAvoy both deserve acting nods, plus Dawson has a bod to die for. :P

Boyle basically continues to cement his reputation for being one of the most consistent quality film director out there. Trance is like a spiritual film cousin of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' work on Criminal. :)
